What Is The Dining Room Mission?

The Dining Room Mission (TDRM) is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit organisation providing free, home-style meals every Tuesday evening to people in need across the Maroondah community — especially those facing homelessness, hardship, isolation, or food insecurity.

Operating out of a hall behind St John the Divine Anglican Church in Croydon, just across from the train station, the Mission creates more than just a hot meal. It offers guests a safe and welcoming space — a moment of calm, dignity, and human connection in what can often be a chaotic or lonely world.

Each week, people of all ages — from single parents to elderly residents, young people, and families — sit side by side for a shared meal served by a team of passionate volunteers. The Mission also provides donated produce and pantry items when available.

For many guests, this is the only proper meal or social interaction they’ll have all week.

Every Friday night in July, proceeds from our Meat Raffle go directly to supporting TDRM.

Your support helps them continue to:

• Cook and serve hearty meals to those doing it tough
• Provide donated groceries and essentials to guests
• Offer a sense of routine, connection, and community
• Keep the lights on for an essential services

Together, we raised $1,265 in May to support local players struggling to cover their registration fees.

At The Grand, we’re proud to stand behind causes that matter to our local community. In May, we launched our own initiative to support players who were doing it tough and struggling to cover their registration fees.

Through our Friday Night Meat Tray raffles, we raised an incredible $1,265, all of which is going directly toward helping these players stay involved in the sport they love.

As a proudly community-focused pub, we believe in showing up when it counts — and we’re so grateful to everyone who contributed. Your generosity helps keep our local sporting spirit alive and well.

This June our Friday night meat tray raffle is raising funds for the Pat Cronin Foundation

This is through Ben Duffy a local man setting out to run 52 seperate marathons in the 52 weeks of 2025.

At the age of 19 Pat was tragically killed at the hands of a coward punch, when attempting to drag his mate out of a fight at his local pub. Pat wasn’t an aggressive person and was purely there to remove his mate, when he was struck senselessly from behind. Pat’s parents Matt and Robyn turned this tragedy into the incredible foundation that is the Pat Cronin Foundation.

Pat went to Whitefriars the same school as Ben and hearing his story pushed Ben to have a crack at something incredibly tough, to raise money for such a worthy cause. Ben has already run 22 through the first 22 weeks of the year, and will continue to battle through to hopefully reach the goal he has set. The support he has been given so far is nothing short of incredible lets continue this support as he tackles this challenge.

Pop down to The Grand every Friday where all proceeds from the Friday Meat Tray Raffle will be donated to Bens Go Fund Me where all proceeds will go directly to the Pat Cronin Foundation.

Together we raised $3,336.15 for Good Friday Appeal supporting AHA (Vic) Pubs with Purpose in 2025.

Joining forces with like-minded pubs across Victoria, The Grand committed to ‘Pubs with Purpose’ – an AHA (Vic) initiative supporting The Good Friday Appeal. Pubs have always been at the Heart of the Community and especially The Good Friday Appeal Community. Across the years, many pubs have produced incredible results gathering their communities together and digging deep to raise funds for The Good Friday Appeal.

We consistently support The Good Friday Appeal every year to make a difference to the lives of sick kids and their families. We are a proud standing community focused pub, and love to support all organisations in and around town and to those in need when it matters most.

The funds were raised from our weekly Friday Night Meat Tray in March and April, coin donations and $2 donated from every Bruschetta April Parma of The Month sold.

We are proudly partnering with Salsiccia Bro’s in support of Fight4Jon.

We are supporting Salsiccia Bro’s in more ways than one! Our long weekend Aussie inspired Chef Specials, available from Tuesday 21st January at 5PM through to the end of the long weekend (unless sold out prior), include an exclusive Salsiccia Bros dish!

From Tuesday, we are cooking up ‘LAMB & LEEK SALSICCIA BROS SAUSAGES‘ served with Paris mash, buttery green beans, onion gravy & chive. $2 from every dish sold, will be donated to Fight4Jon. This enticing dish will be available all long weekend, unless sold out prior.

Our Friday Night Meat Tray is returning this Friday 24 January, raising funds for Fight4Jon. All proceeds from our weekly Friday Night Meat Tray from the last 2 weeks of January and throughout February, will be donated to ‘Fight4Jon’ to support Jon and his family.

Every dollar raised goes directly to Jon’s care. Your contributions will help fund the specialised care Jon requires, allowing him to maintain a quality of life and pursue his passions despite the heavy toll MND has taken.

Funds are raised through January – February 2025.

Fight4Jon is raising funds for Jonathan Catania, a young man battling the relentless progression of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Since his diagnosis at just 21 with ALS, the most common and aggressive form of MND, Jon has faced a devastating battle. MND has taken away his ability to walk, move, speak and even breathe independently, making each day an extreme challenge.

But Jon’s spirit remains unbreakable. Against the odds, he’s launched two exciting startups (including Salsiccia Bro’s), proving that although MND has robbed him of most of his physical capabilities, it hasn’t diminished his extraordinary spirit and determination.

With every passing year, Jon’s needs become more complex and the financial burden on his family grows. The funds we raise are critical to helping Jon access specialised medical care including alternative treatments and therapies that allow him to keep fighting and living as fully as possible.

Every dollar raised goes directly to Jon’s care, managed through our partner, HAFIN (Helping a Friend in Need). Your contributions will help fund the specialised care Jon requires, allowing him to maintain a quality of life and pursue his passions despite the heavy toll MND has taken.

By supporting Fight4Jon, you’re helping a family navigate an extraordinary challenge. You’re standing with Jon in his battle and lightening the load for those who support him every day, whilst providing Jon the resources he needs to continue his fight and live with dignity, ambition and a spirit that continues to amaze and inspire all of us.

Together, we raised a total of $28,594 for our community in 2024.

These funds were raised from our Friday night meat tray raffles, donating dollars from Cocktails of The Months, silent auctions, proceeds from our Parma of The Month, our Grand Team participating in The Mother’s Day Classic and growing a mo in Movember, to our directors matching monthly amounts raised.

A massive thank you to our wonderful community for your kind generosity and ongoing support. We are proud to support our local Warrandyte community and to those in need when it matters most.

The Grand Warrandyte continuing its support of the local community achieving a record amount of funds raised through our initiatives throughout the month of October.

From meat tray raffles, to donating dollars from our ‘Booberry Mojito’ Cocktail of The Month and collaborating with the wonderful pink ladies of Warrandyte, we are pleased to announce we’ve raised $6,000.

As 1 in 7 women and 1 in 553 men are touched by this horrible disease, it is hard to go past anybody that hasn’t been impacted by Breast Cancer. We took the initiative to match the funds raised with a further $6,000 to make a grand total of $12,000 donated to ‘Pinking Up Warrandyte’ whose charity of choice is The McGrath Foundation.

As pinking up your town is a national initiative, we are beyond proud to have taken part in pinking up Warrandyte, the only metropolitan suburb in Australia to do so.

Thank you to our wonderful communities support, the directors of The Grand for their donation, our Grand Team and their enthusiasm and excitement to get behind this wonderful cause, we are grateful to be the heart of our community.
